Comparing Differences Between Scripts

After a database compare has been performed the results are shown in the results panel under the scales icon.  Any script that is highlighted in yellow exists in both databases but contains differences between the two databases.  SQL Admin Tools Quick Compare allows examination of the differences with the ability to synchronise the scripts between the databases.

To enter this comparison mode double click on any of the yellow highlighted scripts in the results panel.

The scripts are shown with their full name, including database and schema.  Options are available to copy each relevant database's version of the script to clipboard, save it to file, open it in the default SQL editor or to transfer the script to the other database.

To assist with these decisions the content of the scripts are shown side by side, with differences highlighted.  In keeping with the colour scheme of other result sets, red highlighting indicates that text only exists in the red database's script, green indicates that text only exists in the green database's script while yellow indicates that the text exists in both databases but contains a difference within the line of code.

The green arrows at the bottom of the scripts (in-line with the horizontal scroll bar) take you to the previous/next difference between the scripts.

When a difference is selected by either clicking on it or using the green arrows an in-line comparison of the two scripts is shown at the bottom of the screen.  In the example below part of the column name exist only in the red database.
